dipstick won't go back in
Had some work done at a shop recently, and I removed the dipstick to check the oil and some of the plastic was frayed but nothing was broken off. I couldn't get it to go back in, and had them order me a new Oem dipstick which I can't get to go in either. Any idea what the problem would be?

You're saying the actual dipstick, the metal part that dips into the oil in the crankcase will not go into the crankcase?

The whole stick. it only will go into the metal tube until the curvature. ( about 1/3 of the way in)

I have a 1.8 and the oil dipstick just drops right in no curvature. Obviously it sounds like you have an obstruction. I don't know how the oil pan lines up with the dipstick on the 3 liter. But suppose you could try to remove the dipstick tube orifice that the dipstick goes into and try to fish it through. On the 1.8 removing the metal dipstick orifice would mean completely tearing down the motor and then pressing or hammering out the tube. On my Mitsubishi Galant it's just a matter of twisting it out

I think some obstructure is your problem, unless your dip stick got bent? Look for any saddle twists or bends in it - I know those things can be stubborn goin in..
